Fuse Creator is being used in lots of different ways, in lots of different subjects and by pupils with different ages and abilities.
Peer to peer activities at Nicholas C of E primary
Year 4 pupils at St Nicholas C of E Primary are enjoying using Fuse to create activities for pupils in Year 2. They’re making full use of the range of templates including linking objects with connecting lines, flashcards and creating multiple choice questions to create a variety of activities on plants and minibeasts. Not only is this providing them with a great way to revise, but it’s also providing the Year 2 children with a fun introduction to the topics too.
“I like it more than any computer website because you can create your own things and that’s really fun to do – you can go wild! It’s just simple and is a fun way of learning.” Lewis, Year 4 pupil

“I like Fuse Creator because you can do all sorts of activities and it’s really fun when you can show off to others and show them what you’ve learned. It was a nice experience for the Year 2s to use it and for me to show them what I’ve learned as well.” Yasmin, Year 4 pupil
“I like Fuse because I like creating things and helping other children to learn about minibeasts and it’s a good programme to use because of all the different things you can do with it.” James, Year 4 pupil
“I like Fuse because it’s all about plants and is interesting and interactive.” Dillon, Year 2
Supporting SEN and Assessment at Shipston Primary
Shipston Primary School has been using Fuse Creator since March 09. The teacher leading the way is Ruth Piercy. Ruth has found Fuse to be an excellent resource because of its flexibility and has applied the software across every year group in the school from Year 1 to Year 6.
Ruth has tailored Fuse activities for Year 1 pupils with SEN as well as developing end of topic assessments, e.g. based on Ancient Egypt for Year 3 and India for Year 4. Ruth commented:
“I looked at where Fuse could be beneficial and SEN screamed out. There are often time constraints sitting down with pupils for reading and spelling, but with Fuse you can create activities which are read out to pupils so they can start to work independently. This has worked really well for us.
“I’ve also used Fuse for assessment, which can quite often be a long drawn out process, quite boring for juniors - just lots and lots of written work. I thought Fuse had the ability to make it more lively and interactive - something a bit more game-like which is really what the children are interested in. End of topic assessments can often be extended pieces of written work, but this isn’t always the most accessible way for children who may be good at a subject but can’t get it down on paper, whereas Fuse has the ability to open that up to everybody.
The fact that Fuse is so generic and that the possibilities are endless is great. At first the blank canvas seemed daunting, but once I got into it I realised I could go anywhere with it and that’s fantastic! I’ve really enjoyed using it and once we get the other staff trained it will be something that’s embedded in the curriculum.
Whole class teaching activities at Harris school
Pupils at Harris Secondary School have been using Fuse Creator as a revision and presentation tool to show what they have been doing in other subjects and to demonstrate what they have learned. Teachers at Harris have also been using Fuse to create whole class teaching activities for the whiteboard.
